Iran plans to deploy naval forces as the country stages a massive series of battle games focusing on electronic warfare, a military chief declared. Iranian Naval Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced the plans as the Islamic Republic revealed it may abandon its nuclear agreement with world powers “within hours” if more new sanctions are imposed amid escalating tensions with the US. The commander added a specialized warfare drill would be held in the

southeast of the country in the next few days. A United Nations resolution calls for Iran not to undertake activity related to ballistic missiles designed to have a nuclear warhead. Electronic warfare, also known as EW, represents the ability to use the electromagnetic spectrum—signals such as radio, infrared or radar to sense, protect, and communicate.
