A huge total solar eclipse will take place over the United States this month and for some Christians, it’s a clear sign from God that the last days prophesied in the Bible are upon us. The eclipse is already causing a lot of excitement in the astronomy community and it even has its own dedicated website calling it the Great American Eclipse. Millions of Americans are expected to head out to see it and the website tells enthusiastic sky-watchers where they can best catch a glimpse.
It promises to be quite a spectacle as this particular eclipse will span from coast to coast of the United States, an unusual occurance for solar eclipses. But it’s not only sky-watchers who are getting excited about it. The upcoming eclipse is also causing a stir among Christians who are watching for signs of the end times prophesied in the Bible. There are several verses in the Bible that prophecy about the sun turning dark, for example Matthew 24:29 in which Jesus says the sun will be darkened after the tribulation, and in Revelation 6:12 which talks about the sun becoming ‘black as sackcloth of hair’ and the moon becoming ‘like blood.’ CONTINUE
I am having a hard time finding anyone discussing why this eclipse is different from any previous eclipses. If anyone has any information as to why “this one” is so important I would be very appreciative.
Perhaps the reason is that history shows solar eclipses are for the gentile nations while lunar eclipse are for Israel. Apparently history shows that about the time Jonah went to Nineveh there was a solar eclipse, and the Lord had given the people 40 days to repent, and from scripture we know they did. Nineveh is in the area of ancient Babylon. There is a future Mystery Babylon in scripture that meets a sudden demise. If one counts from August 21 to Sept 30, there is a 40 day count. Sept 30th is also Yom Kippur when in Jewish tradition the Lord is sitting on His Throne, and doling out the Judgment from the Royal decrees given for that year. This solar eclipse will only be visible in America just as my understanding of ancient Babylon. Hope this helps

I see commits like asking someone to explain why this eclipses is a big deal from others or I heard from someone else explain what is going on. Is there anybody else sees these kinds of questioning as lazy and dumb. I believe if you want to understand something get off your lazy butt and do your own research. Relying on others to give you answers is very dangerous, you can be mislead! Stop having others do the work for you. Ask God for help to understand and start studying!
On that day the sun will come up in West and go down in east. Most eclipse is seen over ocean not land.
Another important period happens the same day as the solar eclipse. At sundown on Monday 21 August 2017 begins the month of Elul (repentance).
The month of Elul is the last month on the Hebraic calender when Jews are supposed to reconcile their differences with friends, family and God.
The Jews are Gods chosen people. We Christians who believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior Gentiles have been graffed in with the Jews.
Predominately the church does not know about the Hebraic roots of Christianity so a solar eclipse that begins on the first day of the last Jewish month on the Hebraic calender may not mean much to those who don’t study Biblical prophecy.
However, for me I can’t help but be both excited and alarmed for those who do not believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Jesus Christ says it best in John 14:6 I believe;
“I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man shall come onto the Father but by me.”
I could go on and on with other things that should give you rise that God is trying to tell us something.
This year we are in the 120th Jubilee since Adam, the 90th Jubilee since Abraham, and the 40th Jubilee since Jesus walked this Earth the last time. You can learn more about the Jubilee in the book of Leviticus.
