The wife of a murdered Christian missionary who made headlines when she declared that she had forgiven her husband’s murderers just days after his death says the reason why she was able to forgive so quickly is because Jesus had told her to do so.In an interview with The Christian Post last week, Susanne Geske recalled the emptiness she felt in the moments and days following the death of her husband. Tilmann Geske, a German missionary, was killed along with two Turkish
converts from Islam in a massacre at a Bible publishing house in Malatya, Turkey, on April 18, 2007. “It was just like empty,” the mother of three said, describing the feeling in her heart in the days after her husband’s death. In Roman times a Centurion had the right to strike a citizen. But only once. If the Centurion struck the citizen a second time the Centurion could be put to death under Roman law. Kind of puts a new twist on “turn the other cheek” doesn’t it. Forgiveness is for the repentant. In this case The Lord told her to forgive her enemy inorder she might heal. Not to do the murderous idoloters any favors. A difficult and honorable decision on her part nonetheless.

I don’t know if there would be enough bombs. In 2010, according to Pew Research, there were 1.6 billion Muslims on earth and growing fast. Maybe, just maybe, there is a better solution. And, who knows, maybe the Bible provides us with the solution. And maybe, it’s a long shot – I know, but maybe Suzanne Geske received The Answer from The Lord. An answer that enabled her to remain positive and blessed. I wonder, just a fleeting thought mind you, if forgiveness is the most devastating weapon we can ever use against those who seek to destroy us.
I don’t get it. Forgive and they keep killing.
