(by Kelly McDonald, Jr) The Spanish oil company Repsol recently announced the largest discovery of onshore oil in the United States in 30 years. The find was made in Alaska’s North Slope. Alaska is a state well known for its oil and natural resource reserves. The oil discovery is estimated to be 1.2 billion barrels of oil.

Oil production is not expected to start until 2021. The discovery was made with the help of Armstrong Oil and Gas, which bought the area in 2001. When it becomes fully operational, it is expected to produce 120,000 barrels of oil a day.
