Probably one of the most popular and most asked question by many sceptics (and even Christians on many occasions as well) is this: “If God Is good, why is there evil in this world?” It’s not always for us Christians to give answers to tough questions. It might be because we don’t take time to seek answers or we think that “just believing” is enough to bring us by. But the truth is that there is an answer to every question and through the leading of the Holy Spirit and the guidance of
elders we can and should answer such questions if we can. 1 Peter 3:15 urges us saying, “But in your hearts honour Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” On the question of God’s goodness in the midst of the evils of this world, here are three answers that we can give. IF GOD IS REAL WHY ARE THERE SO MUCH EVIL>>> IT IS BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE EVIL AND DO NOT HAVE BELEIF IN ANY THING . NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY THAT GOLD WOULD MAKE THE WORLD A BED OF ROSES>
I’m missing your point with the three reasons why god allows evil in the world. None of your answers answer the question. The fact that god “allows” evil makes him as responsible for it as the devil. He has the power to stop evil, yet he allows it.
Because God is good, he is love. His love gives other beings made by him a will that is free to choose. Angels that were perfect, created by God, made an evil choice to disobey God and oppose him, allowing sin to enter an otherwise perfect creation. Sin is disobedience to the known will of God. This same evil choice was repeated as one of these fallen angels tempted the first man and woman. There sin brought death and destruction into the otherwise perfect physical creation of God.
Men seem to think that God, by an act of his will, eliminate all evil, but that would mean that the source of that evil, the human heart, would have to be destroyed. He came up with a better plan that would eliminate the evil from the hearts of people one by one. It is called repentance
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
This verse sums up God’s intentions toward sinful men and his means of eliminating evil. Coming to repentance is the gospel message of Christ. “Repent and believe the gospel.” It is the love of God for all mankind that causes him to put up with evil so that he may by any means save some.
All those that refuse this gospel message will one day be punished and separated from those who do repent and are reconciled to God. And those who receive and obey this wonderful call of repentance will have eternal life!
There is evil in the world because of the sins of Adam and Eve. The world was perfect until Eve disobeyed God and in turn Adam and Eve discovered evil. Since then God allows sin (evil) but has given us an out thru Jesus Christ. We reap what we sow. Not living up to God’s laws results in things happening that are against His will. Even those who are innocent fall into the evil of others. We see it every day. Read Genesis and in the New Testament, the book of John. It is all there. You are right. Those 3 answers didn’t help.
This article falls way short of a true and viable answer to this question. So let me pick up the slack here.
Part of the goodness of God is that He gave all of His creation FREE WILL, the ability to choose freely without coercion; and in order to be pure and good, He has to HONOR that free will, allowing everyone in His creation the freedom to choose. If it was not an option or available to choose to disobey Him or go against Him, then there would truly and really be NO free will. Free will can only be free will if all options are on the table.
Angels are created spirit beings by God and they also were given free will. One of the three head angels, Lucifer, chose by FREE WILL to disobey God and bring evil into God’s creation.
Part of God’s goodness is also that He is the LIFE giver and cannot take life or kill. Death was brought into God’s creation by Lucifer, who has the “power of death” as it says in Hebrews 2:14, and “death is an enemy” as it says in I Corinthians 15:26. God cannot simply kill Lucifer or God would be using evil to get rid of Satan.
But God, in His omniscience, built into the very fabric of the universe the spiritual truth and law that “whatsoever one sows, that shall he also reap.” How you live is what you get back, it is part of the justice of the universe.
So in the end, Lucifer and death will both be destroyed by the light of Christ’s coming with his saints, the light will so expose the darkness that the devil will reap all the evil he has sown throughout all time and he will be destroyed of himself and evil by the justice of the universe that the LIGHT God built into all creation.
The evil is in the world today because of the choices of Lucifer to become the devil and Satan and the choices of men who follow the devil or are tricked by the devil to live evil and do evil things. Satan is so powerful that even the creation itself travails in pain under his evil, waiting to be delivered:
Romans 8:21-22:
21 Because the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.
God is so good that He preserves and honors free will to the end that all created beings can choose to do evil. God warns us all and all of mankind that doing and choosing evil will NOT lead to a good end for us, for eventually we also will reap what we sow.
God has never and will never KILL or take anyone’s life from them. It is a lie of the devil that God kills or slaughters. Anyone serious about learning the truth of this and why the Hebraisms and idioms of speech in the OT make it appear like God kills and slaughters in His wrath will learn that God does not and cannot kill for God cannot deny Himself (II Timothy 2:13) and He cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18 & Titus 2:1).
It was the devil and his unclean spirits that brought the flood on man in Noah’s day, the Apostle Peter makes this very clear in his epistle when he talks about the spirits in prison that brought the flood in the days of Noah (I Peter 3:19-20 & II Peter 2:4-5), and Revelation confirms that the flood was cast out of the “dragon’s mouth” (the devil’s doing or Satan)as he was pursuing stopping Christ, the promised seed of the woman, from coming to save mankind:
Revelation 12:15-16:
15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
There is so much that even Christians need to learn about the OT and true nature of God and how they were in darkness in the OT not understanding God fully nor the devil and that it was Jesus Christ that exposed the work of the devil and placed the blame for death and destruction where it belongs, on the devil and his dark spirit kingdom of devil spirits and unclean spirits.
But the LIGHT of God will prevail and all evil, death and destruction will be destroyed of itself by the justice of God and the universe.
That is why there is evil in the world today, because God is good and the devil is evil and there is free will.
But someday, all the evil will cave in on itself and only the LIGHT and truth will remain for all of us who have used our free will go choose good and God.
God created man with free will. A mindless- obey blindly would not convey real love. He gave us choice and free will to revere him or reject his guidance. Those that reject tend to fall into narcissism and self first and care not for others. This the trail of evil manifestation.

God’s attributes of omnipotence, omniscience, and omni-benevolence cannot be reconciled with the fact of evil in the world. At least one of those attributes cannot be true. Saying that the Devil causes evil simply means that God is not all-powerful. I would love to see a good theodicy (justice of God), but it seems impossible with the attributes we have bestowed upon God. See my website and show me where I’ve gone wrong, please.
