DEVELOPING – An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 was reported 102 miles west of Ferndale off Northern California on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey announced. People as far away as San Francisco reported feeling the quake, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

Officials did not issue a tsunami warning. The USGS first reported the earthquake at 6:50 a.m. local time. Ferndale is about 120 miles south of the Oregon border. Two quakes with magnitudes topping 4.0 shook the region earlier this week — one on Monday and one on Tuesday, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. FULL REPORT
