A massive blackout hit Puerto Rico Wednesday afternoon , leaving at least 1.5 million people without power. An investigation is underway by power company Electric Power Authority, which provides electricity for the entire island. It appears to have been caused by a fire at a facility in Aguirre.

The power company said two transmission lines of 230 thousand volts have been damaged. The blackout began at about 2:30 p.m., Univision reported. According to the AEMEAD, an emergency and disaster agency in Puerto Rico, the fire has been brought under control. READ MORE
