Four rockets have been reportedly fired at a civilian airport in a major Turkish city amid security threats from Islamic State and Kurdish militants in the country. Diyarbakir airport, which is located in the south-east of Turkey close to the Syrian border, was placed under lockdown.

The attackers reportedly targeted a police checkpoint near the VIP lounge of the major airport. Terrified passengers were taken into the terminal building for safety but authorities announced there was no disruption to flights.The missiles landed on wasteland nearby the airport, which serves the country’s southeast, causing no casualties.
