The official platform of the Black Lives Matter movement has triggered criticism from Jewish organizations for accusing Israel of genocide against the Palestinians and calling the country “an apartheid state.” T’ruah, a rabbinic human rights organization, has slammed the platform, published earlier this week, expressing dismay at the use of the term ‘genocide.’ “We are extremely dismayed at the decision to refer to the Israeli occupation as genocide,” it said in a statement published Wednesday.

“While we agree that the occupation violates the human rights of Palestinians, and has caused too many deaths, the Israeli government is not carrying out a plan intended to wipe out the Palestinians.
