(By Ricky Scaparo) In the book of Revelation Chapter Six, it speaks of a time when a loaf of bread or three loaves of barley will cost an entire day’s wage. The frightening thing about this passage is we are witnessing this very thing taking place in Venezuela.  Revelation 6:6 (NLT) – And I heard a voice from among the four living beings say, “A loaf of wheat bread or three loaves of barley will cost a day’s pay. And don’t waste the olive oil and wine.” Venezuela is experiencing a full-blown economic meltdown resulting in Martial Law, Food Riots, Starvation, and Death. Anger over food shortages continues to mount and angry protests and break-ins of grocery stores and businesses that have left deaths, at least 30 injured and 200 arrested.

According to the latest report out of the region, there is hardly ever fresh milk on the shelves including powdered milk, which can sell on the black market for 100 times its official price. Milk was being sold for 7,000 bolivares — more than $700 at the official currency exchange rate, though if you have U.S. dollars you can exchange them on the black market at vastly more favorable rates, perhaps getting 1,000 bolivares to the dollar.  As a result of this Venezuela’s military has taken control of five ports to guarantee supplies of food and medicine. In a decree, President Nicolas Maduro has ordered the army to monitor food processing plants, and co-ordinate the production and distribution of items.  The situation in Venezuela is now rippling over into the local animals as reports indicate at least 50 animals have reportedly died in the last six months at the Caricuao zoo in Caracas, Venezuela, due to widespread food shortages that are affecting both man and beast in the socialist nation. The Black Horse Rider may not be riding among us today, but it sure seems like the road is being paved for his soon arrival!
