Cleveland, Ohio insists it is prepared for the upcoming Republican National Convention but now is bracing for protests that may even turn violent. According to reports from Yahoo News, Several organized events opposed to Donald Trump will take place Sunday even as authorities attempt to watch over the city of 400,000 people. Thousands of police from Ohio and dozens of other jurisdictions across the country, including federal officers and agents, will be in place for this convention which will be kicking off from July 18 to the 21st.

something to keep in mind as well is recently the U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and FBI Director James Comey told lawmakers that they were preparing their agencies for the possibility of violence, both from unruly demonstrators and terrorists, at this upcoming event.

The New Black Panthers have already announced they will be in attendance and “armed”.  According to a report from Fox News recently a statement was made from the black Panthers stating that:

“Leaders of the organization, which the Southern Poverty Law Center designates as a hate group, told Reuters that if Ohio’s open-carry gun laws allow, its members will bring guns for self-defense. Cleveland police are preparing for mass demonstrations, and word that the New Black Panthers may be armed could complicate preparations.”
