In a recent essay in Salon Magazine, the Reverend Elizabeth M. Edman argues for the power of “queer virtue” to combat “heteronormativity” and revitalize a Christianity that is too wedded to traditional ideas of human sexuality and marriage. An Episcopal priest and a political strategist, Edman attempts to redeem the concept of “Pride” as central to the LGBT movement and integral to an authentically Christian life.
In her essay—excerpted from the book titled Queer Virtue: What LGBTQ People Know About Life and Love and How It Can Revitalize Christianity—Edman laments that in Christian scripture and hymnody, pride is “condemned as a glaring and destructive human sin,” when in her mind it is a good and virtuous attitude. if you are Christian, God’s Holy Word clearly states man shall not lie with man and vice versa and practising homosexual sex is sinful and condemns one for all eternity unless one repents aka changes and abstains .. also, all unmarried Christians must abstain from sex as such is only permissible in marriage between a man and a woman, not two lesbians, two gay men, or transgenders persons .. this is surely end times when such as you think Christianity will ever accommodate such sinful behaviour as sexual activity by Christians outside of marriage and by same sex and that includes transgender inside or outside marriage (and any marriage among you is not Christian unless it means 100% abstaining from sexual activity) .. so, stop deceiving yourself and others or you and they risk spending eternity in the lake of fire – is that what you want for you and others? .. and don’t call me homophobic as I do not fear you at all but all I have said Christian, you must live by such .. your choice, your consequence
Pride is a sin. Pride is about saying self is wonderful, great and should be admired. Its essentially vanity. In its more excessive forms its about saying “I’m better than you”.
Apart from this being a totally irresponsible piece of prose and I think the author has to take his share of blame for the toxicity we now see in society. It is very deplorable indeed when we see wrong celebrated as virtue.
There is nothing in Christianity which advocates this insanity in the name of political correctness. This just seeks to make a mockery of the christian faith. If people want to practice such things they have free will and they are afforded this by any country that endorses free choice. However there is no way that this can be called Christian as neither Christ nor any of the apostles endorsed this and we know Paul actively spoke against this in the book of Romans in his beginning chapters.
Don’t call something Christian that Christ never endorsed. Its that simple.
excellent comment, splat, and I agree wholeheartedly ..
No one could take that brand of UGLY seriously.
Lord, please come quickly!
