Gov. Doug Ducey scolded the White House on Monday, saying the president’s directive on transgender restrooms is neither wanted nor needed in Arizona. His comments come days after President Barack Obama issued a memo to all public schools in the U.S., tell them to let transgender students use the bathroom of the gender with whom they identify.
The president and supporters believe the move will protect these students from bullying and harassment. But other state leaders across the country have accused Obama of overstepping his executive authority. “This is not an issue we’re having in Arizona; this is an issue we’re handling on the local level.
