When John Kerry toured the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Museum this week before meeting foreign ministers at the G-7 Summit, Reuters reports that he had witnessed “haunting displays [of] photographs of badly burned victims, the tattered and stained clothes they wore and statues depicting them with flesh melting from their limbs.” “It is a stunning display. It is a gut-wrenching display,” explained Kerry. “It is a reminder of the depth of the obligation every one of us in public life carries … to create and pursue a world free from nuclear weapons.”
Iran exempted, of course. But, really, is this the lesson of Hiroshima? That those in public life have an obligation to do away with nuclear weapons? A lot of people might argue that existence of those weapons have saved lives from broader world conflicts and conventional warfare. That includes ending the Second World War sooner. READ MORE
fook Obama……the fooking Japs should have had 100 atomic bombs dropped on them…..they were butchers….someday China is going to pay the back…..I can’t wait!!!!!
Our Administration is a joke. WWII was not! Apologizing is ridiculious! They forget how many still remain at the bottom of Pearl Harbor!!!
It’s pretty easy to look back and say what should have been done but you can’t second guess the decision as it was made 71 years ago to end a costly war. The Japanese had been indoctrinated to die to the last person. If Kerry had paid attention in History class he would have know. Also, back then, the policy was total warfare. Warfare against populations and population centers in order to win the war. The Axis powers, for their part in starting a World War suffered the greatly for it. The bomb was dropped to drive the Japanese to the peace table and end the war. The though was to prevent the loss of more American lives. There were estimates of astronomical casualties on both sides that far exceeded those killed in the bomb detonations. It took two bombs for them to come to the table. The third city targeted, should the second bomb not convince them, was Tokyo. Apology? While I don’t see it in the article above, if Kerry did do it, he doesn’t represent me.
I don’t know why the US need to apologise. The Japanese killed almost everyone in Nanjing and rapes so many children, women and mothers. They even used chemical warfare. I am thankful for the US to end the war. Yes it is painful but it must end their bastard inhuman way of warfare.
You can bet your bottom dollar that if either Japan, or Germany came up with the atomic bomb first, they would have surely used it on us and not for the sake of ending the war
and saving countless lives in the long term, but for the sake of total and complete genocide! You will never get a “politically correct” fool to see that though. I grieve for America and where she’s heading.
