An Illinois couple who refused to host a gay civil union ceremony at their idyllic bed and breakfast five years ago was defiant Tuesday after being ordered to pay an $80,000 fine and hold a celebration for the pair. Jim and Beth Walder, owners of the Timber Creek Bed & Breakfast in Paxton, rejected Mark and Todd Wathen’s rental inquiry in 2011, telling them they “believe homosexuality is wrong” and refusing their patronage.
The state had recently passed a law allowing civil unions, and the pair filed a complaint with the state Human Rights Commission, which argued their case before an administrative law judge. That judge ruled against the Walders last September, and this month imposed the fine, which included $30,000 in damages and another $50,000 for legal fees. FULL REPORT
I don’t have any respect for this.
How can someone force you to do what they want on your own property. This is the second story I heard of this nature. These homos are throwing the constitution out the window and it’s only gonna hurt them in long run. Same goes for the judge, I hope he becomes a victim of his own dealings. Pray for them all.
Whatever happened to the words: We reserve the right to refuse service…….which used to be a right. Apparently a person no longer can refuse anyone or anything even though it is against their belief…..So much for freedom of religion I guess!!
The end times are screaming at us!
The couple should be honored for standing up for their rights. It is not likely that this couple’s business was the only B&B in the entire area. Those queers could have gone elsewhere and might have been welcomed. The court completely ignored the right of this couple to run their business as they see fit.
I believe a business should be able to refuse to serve anyone they want. I think when people sue because they weren’t served for this reason or because of religious reasons; the businesses were singled out because of their beliefs and the offended one just wanted someone to sue so they can get money.
I believe these types of businesses are singled out by homosexuals so they have a way to make money. Any business should be able to refuse service for any reason. The homosexual community seeks for those whom they can destroy that don’t fit their abominable acts.Jude 1:7
