A Major city has pledged to house hundreds of Syrian refugees despite being gripped by homelessness and demands for social housing. Birmingham city councillors will “put their arms out to welcome” 500 migrants under the Tory Government’s resettlement scheme. There were 18,834 individual applicants on the council’s homeless register as well as 464 homeless families in 2009 according to a Freedom of Information Act request.
The controversial decision to house refugees comes as part of city council’s plan to make Birmingham a “City of Sanctuary” for Syrian asylum seekers. During a meeting at a city church, council leader John Clancy said: “This city will put its arms out to welcome refugees from those UN camps, 500 of them over this next few years. FULL REPORT
More migrants, just what we need , how bout looking out for our own homeless , am sick of it , more burden on our n h s more burden in our already over crowded schools , we are fast becoming a dumping ground for these people more slum like behaviour, it’s time to stop , they need to sort their own country’s out and bloody stay there , we are a christian country ( I think ) not a bloody Islamic one , enough is enough,
Hear hear, what a bloody disgrace. put them in houses next to city councillors see how they like it. I had to move from the house I lived in because of Romanians living next to me, bloody peasants.
You have a duty to care for your own families first instead of sticking them in hostels send them to tory areas they have none,this has to be a labour council no wonder we cant get a labour gov USELESS
