(Patrick Mabilog) Being filled with the Holy Spirit is the most powerful and majestic experience a person can ever encounter. If I had to choose between going to Disneyland and being filled by the Spirit, I’d choose God’s Spirit. One of the many ways that the in-filling of the Holy Spirit manifests in believers is through one’s speaking in tongues. This experience is also probably one of the most controversial topics in the Christian church today.
Some churches shun the idea of the possibility while others abuse the phenomenon by scripting and faking it to appear like God is baptizing them. Whichever the dilemma, there is one source of such problems — that is a flawed understanding of the manifestation of the gift of tongues. The Bible is the best tool to explain speaking in tongues. What does the Word of God have to say about it? READ MORE
Speaking in tongues (in the Bible) meant that what the apostles spoke was understood by the people in their own language. Like when they spoke in Aramaic they were heard as Greek. It has nothing to do with the tongue twisters of today who intentionally make strange sounds. Which by the way is against the purpose of the gift of tongues. The intent was to be understood. The current application by false religions is to ‘confuse’ the listener because the intent is to impress (fool).
You don’t know Bible. Their is private (only between God and man) and public (for interpretation). day of Pentecost was different human languages.
I didn’t speak in tongue’s three years ago But I did have an overwhelming feeling of happiness, joy, compassion and love. It was so overwhelming that I quit my job high-paying job of 9years. And immediately did full-time volunteer work at the local homeless shelter. I also took a Bible class with them. I was lucky enough to experience the Holy Spirit to know that God is actually real!!!!!!!!
Speaking in tongues in the Holy Bible always refers to known languages not some kind of mumbo-jumbo. We have to account for every idle word we say, the HOLY SPIRIT would never make us say something we don’t understand!
