The crews of the Russian Pacific Fleet’s diesel-electric Varshavyanka submarines will practice torpedo firing and minefield planting during anti-submarine drills, the fleet’s press service head said Friday. “After completing preparatory exercises of the task L-2, the Varshavyanka crews will conduct torpedo firing and minefield planting, anti-submarine drills and evading simulated enemy,” Сapt. 1st Rank Roman Martov said. According to the spokesman, the drills are a part of a training program for warships to carry out tasks with the implementation of preparatory exercises in various operational and tactical situations.
