Earthquake Shakes Up Buildings In Capital of Japan

A light earthquake struck north of Tokyo on Sunday, shaking buildings in the Japanese capital. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, and there was no tsunami risk. The magnitude-4.6 quake struck at around 7:30 Sunday evening at a depth of 50 kilometers (30 miles) in Ibaraki prefecture, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck 43 kilometers (27 miles) northeast of Tokyo. The quake comes a day after a magnitude-6.4 temblor jolted southern Taiwan, causing a 17-story apartment building to collapse in the city of Tainan. At least 26 people were killed in that quake and more than 100 are still missing in the rubble from the collapsed building. FULL REPORT
