If you live in pennsylvania and get the urge to feel a pregnant belly you may want to reconsider! Because it’s now illegal. The awkward experience for moms-to-be everywhere falls under the state’s harassment law. It’s an old statute that got a new spotlight after a Central Pennsylvania man was recently accused of repeated belly buffing, Pittsburgh’s WPIX reported.

“Essentially, someone had touched a pregnant woman’s belly,” attorney Phil DiLucente told the station. “That’s very common that pregnant women have to go through that. The only problem is when you harass, annoy, alarm in the act of touching, then it’s a violation, a harassment charge.” The issue of clueless belly rubbers and their handsy advances had typically been left to the occasional etiquette column and mommy blogs, but the threat of criminal charges has sparked vigorous debates on social media platforms such as Facebook.
