Rocket fired from Gaza lands in Israeli territoryA projectile fired from the Gaza strip exploded in open territory in southern Israel on Thursday night, the IDF confirmed. No injuries or damage were reported in the incident that occurred as Independence Day was ending. Security forces were searching for remnants of the projectile. Earlier, rocket alert sirens were activated in the southern communities of Sderot. This was the first rocket fired at Israel since December 20, when a Gazan rocket struck in the Eshkol regional council. In retaliation to that attack, the IAF struck a Hamas base in southern Gaza. Before that, the last rocket attack on Israel occurred on August 26. Jerusalem Post
