1-8-2015-3KingsBreadAt least 40 people in Orange County suffered symptoms ranging from nausea to hallucinations after eating Three Kings cake laced with a synthetic drug, prompting a criminal investigation of the bakery that made it, police said Friday. Officials closed Cholula’s Bakery in Santa Ana on Wednesday after up to 40 customers reported getting sick after eating Rosca de Reyes bread distributed by the bakery on Monday and Tuesday, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency. Corporal Anthony Bertagna of Santa Ana Police Department said multiple hospitals contacted his police officers after dozens of patients turned up sick earlier this week. “They were (having) nauseas, having hallucinations, out-of-body experiences,” Corp. Bertanga said. “The only common denomonator with all these patients is they ate this Three Kings bread in celebration of the holiday.”  More
