poloSteady strengthening is expected over the next day or so, as Tropical Storm Polo moves toward the northwest, paralleling the Mexican Pacific coast, where tropical storm watches and warnings have been issued.  While the core of the system is expected to stay offshore, periods of strong winds, heavy rain, high surf and rip currents may eventually affect portions of the coast. Rainfall amounts of 5-10 inches are expected with isolated totals of 15 inches possible near the coast of the Mexican states of Michoacan, Colima and Jalisco.
