Multiple tornadoes were reported across Mississippi late Monday afternoon. A large tornado carved through the Tupelo, Miss. area Monday at around 2:45 p.m. local time, damaging structures and causing multiple injuries on the north side of town. None of the injuries were expected to be life threatening, according to Tupelo mayor Jason Shelton. The tornado reportedly touched down on the west side of town, near the Tupelo Airport, and tracked northeast toward the Tupelo mall.  At around 2:50 the tornado reportedly crossed through the intersection of US-45 and US-78 through the northern limits of Tupelo, blowing semi-trucks off the road as it continued to move northeast. “There has been significant property damage in northern portions of the city,” Shelton said in an interview with The Weather Channel.
