It’s been called a matter of “when not if.” Some of the most powerful people in the world are meeting to discuss how the world will react to a “Black Sky” event, a large-scale catastrophe that would disrupt the functioning of critical national infrastructure such as power supplies. remarkable range of corporations, government agencies, and NGOs on three continents,” reportedly took place on Aug. 23. The “invite only” event, featuring “new exercise tools” from the Department of Homeland Security, had the objective of improving “community resilience to long duration power outage events through cross-sector exercises,” and was scheduled to last for four hours. Different “operational lanes” have been established for different kinds of institutions, including “federal government,” “state government” and those for utilities and the private sector.
