Andrea Lucado, a writer and daughter of renowned best-selling Christian preacher Max Lucado, has opened up about some of her struggles with faith, including wondering why some atheists seem “more loving” than many Christians. Lucado wrote in a blog, posted on her father’s website on Thursday, about how she has always questioned stories, including biblical ones, and sought answers ever since she was a child.
“Curiosity and questioning are what have led me to deeper truths about God and about myself and others. But when you grow up as a pastor’s daughter, there are expectations,” she began, noting that her father has been the pastor of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio for almost 30 years, or her entire life. Lucado reflected that on one hand, it helped her grow strong as a believer in Jesus, but on the other, she found it difficult to be raised in front of a congregation that expected her to act, look, and carry herself a specific way. Maybe because love isnt just a warm feeling or all accepting thing. This false love is conjured up by hollywood and the world. G-d does love, but is it loving to let someone walk blindly off a cliff? Is it love that would see someone neivly and stubbornly accept a pagan concept of sex and sexuality or what is known as the lbgt community. If someone sins the torah should convict that person. Yes there are many angry christians no doubt, but are we going to accuse anger as being the same as non loving?
Has Max Lucado taught his daughter what true love is? If he has and this is what she still truly believes then she has not listened to what she has been taught. If he has not taught her then his Christian parenting skills are way out of priority.
However, there are many people who call themselves Christians and yet, they know not love. The “love” that she believes atheists share is not real love. It is more of a care-free attitude, which the Bible tells us is actually very dangerous.
