The economic crisis in Venezuela is reaching new levels as now reports are coming in that bread shortages in the country have produced massive lines which have forced the Venezuelan government to respond by detaining bakers and seizing their establishments.  According to a recent press release, the National Superintendent for the Defense of Socioeconomic Rights said it had charged at least four people and temporarily seized two bakeries as the socialist

administration accused bakers of being part of a broad “economic war” aimed at destabilizing Venezuela.  According to reports, The government has told bakeries that they are only allowed to produce French bread and white loaves, or pan canilla, with government-imported flour. Sadly, Two bakeries were also seized for 90 days for breaking a number of rules, including selling overpriced bread according to sources.
