A 7-year-old boy sent up a letter in a balloon to his late father, and unexpectedly received an answer back, according to a recent report. His mother calls it a “Christmas miracle.” Alejandro sends his father two helium filled balloons a year with a photo and letter attached: one on his birthday and the other on the anniversary of his death.

He watched his father, a prominent lawyer, die after he was gunned down and robbed when they lived in their hometown of Cúcuta, Colombia. He believes that his letter reaches his father in heaven, his mother, Catherine Bonilla Ramirez told ABC News. This year his letter was found in a couple’s yard that lives 20 miles away.
