The eye of Hurricane Matthew made landfall near the eastern tip of Cuba on Tuesday night, the US-based National Hurricane Center said. Matthew continues to be a powerful, Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph. Matthew will move across Cuba on Tuesday night and pass over the southeastern Bahamas overnight.
