In case you didn’t know Katy Perry was raised in a Chrisitan home with both her parents Keith and Mary Hudson, who are both ministers and even learned to speak in tongues while growing up with her strict religious parents. The singer previously said, “Speaking in tongues is as normal to me as ‘Pass the salt’ … “My dad speaks in tongues, and my mom interprets it. That’s their gift.” Recently Perry opened up about her views on God and theology in an interview with Marie Claire, expressing that she’s no longer Christian and that she doesn’t believe in heaven, hell or “an old man sitting on a throne.  As a result of this, many have criticised Katy, and now Perry’s parents are hoping that their daughter’s bashers would turn to prayer instead of constantly criticising her.

Excerpt From Christian Today:
Despite all of this, the Hudsons have learned to accept their daughter for who she is and are always praying that she will return to the fold of Christianity. “I want you to pray for my daughter,” Keith said. “Don’t judge her, pray for her. She’s going to be singing ‘Rise’ for the Olympics this year. We’re very proud of it and her.” The Hudsons have maintained a good relationship with their daughter over the years, despite their differences. And although they do not agree with all of her music, they still attend her awards shows.
