Gigantic 700,000 km long magnetic canyon opens up on the sun

A gigantic magnetic canyon, stretching more than 700,000 km from end to end, has formed on the sun on July 5, 2016. The coronal hole released a gaseous stream of solar wind that should reach Earth on July 8th or 9th.
