Just days before the Iowa caucuses, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump showed off the Bible gifted to him by his mother in an effort to win evangelical votes. “I really appreciate the support given to me by the evangelicals,” Trump states in the video entitled “Trump: Christian values,” released on Saturday. “They’ve been incredible. Every poll says how well I’m doing with them.” He then lifts his Bible to show viewers, opening it to reveal the writing inside the cover. “My mother gave me this Bible—this very Bible—many years ago,” he says, noting that his mother had written in the front.

“She wrote my name and my address, and it’s just very special to me.” “And again, I want to thank the evangelicals,” Trump closes. “I will never let you down.” Last September, Trump brought the same Bible to the Values Voters Summit, hosted by Family Research Council in Washington. “I brought my Bible. You know, it’s the First Presbyterian Church, Jamaica (Queens) and this was written by my mother, with my name, with my address, with everything,” he told those gathered. “I saw this and I had to bring it.” FULL REPORT
