(Ricky Scaparo) “Jeremiah 25:32 – Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Behold, disaster shall go forth From nation to nation, And a great whirlwind shall be raised up From the farthest parts of the earth.”

On New Year’s Eve, I was privileged to join many others in bringing in the new year in Loganville, GA at a powerful service with pastor Kevin Seagle at Elijah’s Altar. While Pastor Kevin was ministering I received a quick vision of a tornado or (whirlwind) expanding into a hurricane. When this happened I immediately thought of a recent word that was delivered by Ryan Lestrange and Jason Armstrong about 2105 being the “Year of the Whirlwind” In this message they explained how 2015 on the hebraic calendar of 5775 represented a season of “whirlwinds” in the believer’s lives. More on this word HERE

As I pondered on this, I asked “Why the expansion from a “Whirlwind” to a “Hurricane“? I suddenly began to get a powerful understanding of what I was seeing. A Whirlwind, according to definition is a very strong wind that moves in a spinning or swirling motion and that can damage buildings, trees, etc. It is also something that involves many quickly changing events, feelings, etc as was mentioned above.  However a Hurricane by definition is an extremely large, powerful, and destructive storm with very strong winds that only occurs on a body of water.

Proverbs 10:25 – When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

According to the NOAA, Hurricanes have what is called a “Triple Threat” which is a term coined by it’s high winds, but it’s capability to cause torrential rains that lead to flash flooding and abnormally high waves and storm surge. Each of these alone can pose a serious threat to life and property. Taken together they are capable of inflicting a large loss of life and widespread destruction.

Jeremiah 23:19 – Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord has gone forth in fury— A violent whirlwind! It will fall violently on the head of the wicked.

I believe this Hurricane in 2016 will be two-fold, meaning it will bring destruction but also blessing.  I believe what this means is that the winds of destruction that we saw blowing across the Nation in 2015 will expand in 2016, Meaning the damage we saw from the whirlwind in 2015 that wrecked havoc on the Economy, Families, The Church and the very moral fabric of America will expand from land to sea. Meaning the storm will expand its reach from the United States to the Nations of the World. However those who remain centered in Christ and his word will remain in the eye of the Storm which is the safest location of a hurricane. It is the center of peace! Let me explain by using what the NOAA calls the “Triple Threat” interpretation.

High Waves and Storm Surge – According to Jim Weyman, director of the Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu, “the greatest loss of life associated with tropical cyclones worldwide is due to coastal inundation from storm surge and high waves.” Large ocean swell ahead of the hurricane may reach island shores while the storm is several hundred miles away. As the hurricane nears the coastline, rapidly rising water levels from the wind-driven waves and storm surge will inundate coastal areas, erode beaches, and pound and undermine waterfront structures and roadways. Again notice the difference between a “Whirlwind” compared to a “Hurricane” a Whirlwind effects smaller regions while the Hurricane’s damage is much greater in reach.

All though I believe we will see an increase of turmoil, destruction and chaos upon the Nations in 2015 I also believe we will also see a mighty swell and surge of “Revival winds” blow across the Land as well. What we see in the Natural will many times be a reflection of the Spiritual.

High Winds – Many times hurricane and tropical storm winds can cause extremely high winds that can destroy buildings, structures, trees, vegetation and crops. Ridge tops and exposed locations downslope from the mountains are at greatest risk.

As the winds of Judgment continue to blow across the land it will continue to shake the nations as Haggai Chapter 2 speaks of. Everything that can be shaken will continue to be shaken. This is where our foundation must be secured in him to remain steadfast and immovable as we see this transition from the whirlwind to the Hurricane.

Matthew 7: 24-27 –  “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Heavy Rains and Flash Flooding Heavy and prolonged rains can accompany all types of tropical cyclones including hurricanes, tropical storms, and tropical depressions. Even the weakest tropical depressions can bring torrential rains and flash flooding.

Jesus warns us that the “Last Days” would reflect the “Days of Noah”. Without elaborating on the sins of that day, I want to focus on the judgment that came as a result of the sins and abominations of that time. The judgment came in the form of water producing flooding on a global scale, Although the Lord promised us that the world would never be destroyed again by a flood, I find it very interesting that many parts of the United States and around the world is seeing unprecedented flooding that is shattering records, claiming lives and costing countless dollars in devastation. As unpopular as this may sound I believe this will continue through the next 12 months around the World, However I also believe that we will see pockets of Revival Outpourings in locations that are contending and praying for the rains to fall!

Remember inside the eye of the hurricane the winds are mostly light. However, lurking a short distance away lies the surrounding eyewall, where the most intense and destructive winds are found. In Proverbs Chapter One verses 24-33 we see a powerful two-fold warning and blessing from the Lord.

Proverbs 1:24-33 – Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded, Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. “Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord, They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies. For the turning away of the simple will slay them,
And the complacency of fools will destroy them; But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil.”
